Quantum Supply Chain for Manufacturers

About this event

CAIC and SomerCor are co-hosting a breakfast event, "Quantum Supply Chain for Manufacturers." The event explores how local businesses can integrate into Illinois’ rapidly expanding quantum and advanced-technology supply chain. This initiative builds on the recent award of approximately $30 million from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to The Bloch Quantum Tech Hub—catalyzing roughly $55 million in total regional commitments—to establish a domestic quantum manufacturing base across Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

Building the quantum ecosystem requires more than theoretical research, quantum companies depend heavily on traditional manufacturing capabilities to supply precision components, specialized electronics, vacuum systems, fabricated metal products, and advanced materials. A central objective of the EDA funding is ensuring established regional manufacturers, regardless of prior quantum experience, acquire the necessary technical capabilities, industry certifications, and procurement relationships to capitalize on this emerging market.

Matt Zajac, Director of Operations and Strategic Engagement at The Bloch Quantum Tech Hub, will address this trajectory in an opening presentation centered on Illinois’ quantum future, regional investment, and emerging manufacturing opportunities.

Panel Discussion

Following the presentation, Michael Fassnacht , Chief Growth Officer and President Chicagoland at Clayco, will moderate a panel discussion titled "Integrating Regional Manufacturers into the Quantum Ecosystem." The panel will feature practical insights from Matt Zajac alongside Dr. Hafsa Karroum , Director of Strategic Investment and Market Deployment at IMEC, and Meghan Dyer , Assistant Director of Design and Construction at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park.
